The common definition is that people born between
1946 and 1964 are considered "Baby Boomers."
Why is this generation so important? Well, mainly
because we changed the way the world lived and thought. We took to the
streets to protest everything from the Vietnam War to Civil Rights. We
didn't stand by and live the way our parents and grandparents had always
lived. We wanted things to be different.
We may be married, divorced, single, 'partnered
up', or widowed. We live all over the country and all over the world.
Some of us are dealing with both an older and a
younger generation, some of us are lucky and only have to deal with one or
the other. We live in rural, urban and suburban settings. Our educations
run from High School to all sorts of advanced degrees.
Today, Baby Boomers are the largest segment of the
population and we are the people who go to work everyday and make the
world go round.
Baby Boomers are the doctors, lawyers, businessmen
and businesswomen, actors, policemen and policewomen, firemen, husbands,
wives, parents, and yes, the grandparents of today. Soon, we will also be
the retirees. We will still be different. No rocking chairs for us. We
will remain active and informed -- and online.
